Recognizing this imperative, the IT Club – Aavishkar organised the Workshop on Power BI, by the esteemed Mr. Rahul Singam from ORACAS IQ on 18th June 2025 which proved to be a transformative experience for students eager to elevate their data analytics capabilities.
The workshopwas meticulously designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Power BI — a powerful business analytics tool that enables users to visualize data and share insights across the organizations.Mr. Singam began with a hands-on demonstration of the Power BI Desktop interface, explaining its key components such as Power Query, Data Model, and Report View and explained how these components interact to create a seamless data analysis workflow.
The session connected Power BI to various data sources including Excel spreadsheets, SQL databases, and cloud services. The consultant emphasized the power of Power Query Editor to clean, transform, and shape data, emphasizing the importance of data quality before analysis.He demonstrated techniques to enhance user interactivity, such as drill-through filters and bookmarks, enabling deeper exploration of data. The speaker introduced Data Analysis Expressions formulas, which allow users to create custom calculations, measures and simplified complex concepts by illustrating real-world scenarios, helping attendees grasp how DAX can solve intricate business problems.
The insights enhanced technical skills with a renewed appreciation for the role of data in driving organizational success, will undoubtedly ripple through their professional endeavours, culture of informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
