In Telugu states, Sankranthi marks the joyous harvest season, blending faith and festivity. Homes glow with rangoli, kitchens fill with the aroma of sweet pongal and savouries, and skies burst with kites. The Cultural Club Aroop, graciously organised Sankranthi celebrations on 09th January, 2026 that honour the harvest festival, the agricultural heritage and the spirit of gratitude for the abundance of the nature.
The festivities at the college were marked by lively competitions, including kite making and rangoli art, which saw enthusiastic participation from students. The rangoli competition was especially noteworthy, featuring intricate and theme-based artistic creations that reflected the cultural richness of the festival. In keeping with tradition, the club organised an important ritual, Bhogi Mantalu, where old and negative thoughts are symbolically discarded, welcoming positivity and renewal, then prepared and distributed authentic Pongal, allowing everyone to savour the flavors of this special occasion.
The sky was filled with an array of kites flying high, embodying the spirit of unity and joy. The campus was also transformed into a miniature village, with students showcasing rural life through traditional attire, folk musical instruments bringing alive the essence of village life and its integral role in Indian culture. The festival celebrations were a perfect blend of cultural education and joy, making the day memorable for all involved. Around 350 students, staff and faculty participated in the event.
