To unlock the securities market for students, the training and placement cell organised a guest lecture on 11th July, 2025,held by Mr Subhayu Das, Assistant General Manager at the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM).
The speaker highlighted the diverse career pathways available in securities markets, ranging from trading, investment analysis and portfolio management to compliance, research, and financial advisory roles. He explained that with the advent of technology, new roles in fintech, algorithmic trading and data analytics have emerged, expanding the career landscape, integrating the business environments. Mr Das outlined the importance of gaining practical knowledge and certifications that enhance employability, as the securities market sector offers lucrative salaries in an intellectually stimulating environment with global exposure. The workshop guided participants through the essential technical aspects of Tableau, includingConnecting to Data Sources such as Excel spreadsheets, SQL databases, and cloud platforms, Data Preparation and Cleaning by filtering, grouping, and blending datasets within Tableau, Building Visualizationsby creating different types of charts and graphs — bar charts, line charts, scatter plots, heat maps, and geographic maps to represent data effectively and to publish dashboards to Tableau Server, Tableau Online for team collaboration and decision-making.This practical approach ensuredstudentsto grasp the theoretical concepts and build confidence in applying Tableau tools independently with a data-driven mindset.
