A Universal Art of Living: CelebratingInternational Yoga day

In an era where the pace of life accelerates relentlessly, and the mind often races ahead of the present moment, yoga emerges as a sanctuary, a timeless practice that offers more than physical exercise. The Cultural Club- Aroop led a transformative yoga practice session by a skilled yoga trainer Ms. Sruthiproviding students with a profound glimpse into yoga’s deeper essence: a holistic way of life that nurtures the body, calms the mind and awakens the spirit.

Ms. Sruthi set the tone for the session, inviting students to engage with awareness and intentionon pranayama, or breathe control, which she described as the bridge between body and mind. Explaining that breath is the thread that weaves through every posture, every moment of stillness, and meditation.

Students were introduced to simple yet powerful breathing techniques such as Ujjayi (Victorious Breath) and NadiShodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing). These practices helped to calm the nervous system, sharpen focus, and prepare the mind for deeper engagement. The trainer emphasized that mastering the breath is key to unlocking yoga’s transformative potential, as it anchors practitioners in the present moment and regulates energy flow throughout the body. She encouraged students to listen deeply to their breathhonouring their limits and embracing the journey without judgment.

This compassionate approach promoted a safe space where students could explore movement as an expression of self-awareness rather than competition or perfection. As students continue their academic and personal paths, the lessons from this session served as a beacon, reminding them that yoga is more than movement. It is a way of life, a practice of returning home to oneself amidst the chaos of modern existence.
