Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates the triumph and celebrates the indomitable will of the Indian armed forces. The Kargil War was fought in the icy heights of the Himalayas, in the rugged terrain of the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir. In the summer of 1999, intruders had crossed the Line of Control and occupied strategic posts, threatening the security of the nation. The Indian Army launched a daring and determined operation to evict the infiltrators and reclaim the heights.
The NSS Club on 26th July, in commemorating Kargil Vijay Diwas with deep reverence and unity, gathered in solemn assembly. The atmosphere was charged with a blend of pride and poignant remembrance. Students and faculty stood together, embodying the spirit of national unity and gratitude with a heartfelt tribute to the heroes of Kargil.
A two-minute silent tribute, a powerful gesture of respect and remembrance, was given. In those two minutes, every heart beat in unison, honouring the courage of the soldiers who fought on the treacherous slopes of Kargil. This silence spoke volumes of sacrifice, valourand the cost of freedom. It was a moment to remember the fallen heroes, to acknowledge the pain borne by their familiesand to express gratitude for the peace their bravery secured. The tribute was a reminder that every citizen shares a role in safeguarding the nation’s unity and peace.
